Emergency services called to rescue ‘person in the water’ in Rochdale lake

Emergency crews were called to a water rescue incident in Rochdale on Thursday (January 2). Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to the lake off Trows Lane at around 11.4am.

Water incident units along with four fire engines and police as an ‘extensive’ search of the water was carried out. Nobody was found to be in danger and the search concluded.

Mannequins to scare off birds are seen in pictures positioned at the side of the water. One local claimed the false alarm was called in after a mannequin fell into the water and was thought to be a person, but this has not been confirmed.
