Christmas and New Year saw some wild weather with the capital’s Hogmanay street party cancelled due to a weather warning being put in place.
Sadly, the wild conditions continued into the start of 2025 with several weather warnings being issued for ice and snow as temperatures plummeted to -7C overnight on occasion.
Getting from A to B was extremely difficult as Edinburgh residents and visitors had to steady themselves while navigating the simplest of routes due to the freezing surfaces across the city.
Many had rejoiced when meteorologists predicted temperatures rising this week, with the capital welcoming dry sunny spells throughout Thursday January 16.

The weekend is also set for double figure temps as the mercury climbs to peaks of 11C.
The following week is more good news as dry conditions will continue with the sun making a regular appearance above Edinburgh and temperatures steadying at around 8 or 9C.
But the bad news is the wintry showers only offered a reprieve of a fortnight or so with meteorologists at the BBC believing sleet showers will return on Monday January 24.

The sleet is set to begin at around 5am in the morning and continue right through until around 10am.
Temperatures will again fall to around 4C and will be accompanied by lengthy rain showers.
