Edinburgh steak restaurants named among the best in Europe

Edinburgh steak restaurants have been crowned among the best in Europe.

Big 7 Travel unveiled their list of the 50 best steak spots across the continent. They found restaurants that ‘take the simple steak and, using expert methods and techniques, elevate it to a premium level’.

Kyloe in Edinburgh came in at 24, positioned just off Princes Street. It opened its doors in 2011, and chargrills their beef over a high heat after its dry-aged for a minimum of 28 days on the bone, reports the Daily Record.

Big 7 Travel wrote: “The steakshere are a big deal, so much so that even the most particular and discerning among us will be impressed by their flavour, texture and sear.

“When you’re on the hunt for the same reliable and familiar taste of steak you’re used to in Edinburgh, you won’t want to pass up the opportunity to dine at Kyloe, where simplicity meets expertise to create something truly special and worth celebrating.”

Elsewhere, coming in at number 37 on the list is Porter & Rye in Glasgow. The buzzy New York-inspired restaurant, which is found in the trendy Finnieston neighbourhood of the city, serves up a menu of dry-aged beef and cocktails.

Porter & Rye was praised by the experts for its “deeply flavoured” and “perfectly tender” steaks. The experts also singled out the restaurant’s “specialist dry-ageing methods” and its chefs’ “ability to cook your steak to absolute perfection every time”.

Finally, back in Edinburgh, Miller & Carter is the third Scottish venue to be named among the top 50 steak restaurants in Europe by Big 7 Travel. Miller & Carter is a chain that operates restaurants across the UK, but the one in Edinburgh was described as “the best of the best”.

The experts commented: “Miller & Carter has received prestigious awards and accolades thanks to their premium quality service and the butchering, 30-day ageing and cooking process of their beef. Right in the heart of Edinburgh, you don’t need to travel very far to find some of the best steaks in the country.”

Elsewhere, topping the overall list is Le Relais de L’Entrecôte in Paris. The French restaurant earned acclaim for its “crispy” fries and “succulent cuts of steak that will make your mouth water just by looking at it”.
