Edinburgh rail passengers urged ‘do not travel’ amid heavy snowfall

Rail passengers heading in and out of Edinburgh were urged ‘do not travel’ on Sunday.

This comes amid various weather warnings in place across Scotland and England, as well as repair works. TransPennine Express told customers not to travel on January 5 between Manchester Airport and Edinburgh.

Trains were unable to use the line due to planned engineering works. Replacement buses were also pulled due to ‘heavy snowfall’ in the north west of England.

“This is due to no bus replacement services being able to run for the planned engineering work due to the heavy snowfall which is severely impacting roads across the Pennines and North West. For all other routes across the TPE network customers are advised to delay their journeys until later on today and should be prepared for major disruption and possible postponement of journeys.
