Edinburgh police arrest 14-year-old boy after string of thefts from garages and sheds

Police have arrested and charged a teenage boy after thefts in Edinburgh.

The incidents happened between January 7 and 9, with a 14-year-old male now arrested by officers. Stolen items have since been returned to their owners.

Police have said a report will made to the relevant authorities. Enquiries are ongoing.

Police Scotland Edinburgh said: “A 14-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with thefts from garages and sheds in the Craiglockhart and Colinton areas.

“The incidents occurred between 7 and 9 January, 2025. Officers also recovered items that had been stolen and returned them to their owners.

“A report will be made to the relevant authorities. Enquiries remain ongoing.”

This comes after police launched a search for a West Lothian man who was allegedly trying house and car door handles in the early hours of Monday, January 13.

Residents have been informed to be mindful of securing their homes and vehicles.
