Despite Edinburgh’s official Hogmanay Street Party and fireworks display being cancelled, capital residents were not willing to let the dreich weather dampen their spirits.
Locals as well as visitors from around the world were left gutted when the major global events were axed over public safety concerns.
However many still decided to brave the elements, attending indoor boozer events and concerts, as well as the occasional outdoor activity.
This was evident when a group of Hogmanay party goers broke out into a spontaneous dance, spinning one another from arm to arm, without any music at The Shore in Leith.

The footage was shared live by the Friends of the Water of Leith Basin on Facebook shortly after the bells.
Dozens of people can be seen with beaming smiles on their faces as strangers mingled in the middle of the road on Commercial Street bridge.

It appears the high winds and chilly temperatures could not deter the Edinburgh New Year spirit.
