Calderglen High School presented East Kilbride Community Food Bank with a bumper cheque at a recent festive lunch.
S1 and S2 pupils held a successful sponsored sports sleepover at the school last year, organised by Mr Steve Odger and staff which raised £500.
The generous donation was handed over to food bank organiser Karen Doran of Calderwood Baptist Church at a special lunch to thank the school’s Befrienders for their good work throughout the year.

The scheme sees S6 pupils paired up with an elderly member of the community to provide companionship. They have a chat and a cuppa or help with some odd jobs around the house.
Some meet at the local supermarket and help carry a weekly shop home and others walk with a dementia sufferer and discuss his early days at work.
Both seniors and pupils enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch prepared by S3 pupils and their teachers.
Avril Anderson, the community linchpin who founded Calderglen High School’s award-winning befriending project, was honoured as a ‘local hero’ last August in the presence of The King and Queen to mark 25 years of the Scottish Parliament.
