A bright but windy Thursday is ahead as we move toward a weekend with some change but there’s good things on the horizon.
Overall it’ll be a nice dry day with temperatures maxing out between 9C and 11C. Some nice fresh winds will join that dry sunshine which will probably make the day feel slightly colder.
Met Eireann said: “Dry today with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with moderate, occasionally fresh southerly winds developing.
“Dry tonight with a mix of cloud and clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees. Southerly winds will be mostly moderate, occasionally fresh.”
Those dry conditions will continue as we head into Friday but the sun won’t be shining down on us as much. That’s because there’s going to be more cloud – but some clear skies.
Met Eireann continued: “Dry tomorrow with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh southerly winds.
“Mostly dry Friday night and cloudy with just some patches of mist and drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh, southerly winds.”
As for the weekend, there’s a bit of a turn on the way. The sun will still make an appearance but it’s bringing some mist and rain alongside it. Despite the change, we’re still looking ahead to a mild weekend.
The showers will pick up as we move into Sunday, however. Those showers will continue into Monday and there’s currently signs that lower pressure will lead to less settled conditions in the coming week.
Here’s what we can expect this weekend:
Saturday
Mostly cloudy in the morning with a few patches of drizzle and mist. Some sunny spells will break through during the afternoon. There is the chance of outbreaks of rain arriving into parts of the southwest and west later in the evening. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh, southerly winds.
That night a mix of cloud and clear spell with outbreaks of rain will be slowly moving in from the west over much of Munster, Connacht and west Ulster. Drier and clearer further east though with a few spots of drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees generally with mostly moderate southerly winds.
Sunday
There is some uncertainty in the timing but outbreaks of rain will continue to slowly move eastwards, clearing from the western half of the country by the evening with sunny spells and some showers following. Highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees in mostly light to moderate southerly winds.
The last of the rain will clear the east early in the night with clear spells and some showers following. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees in light to moderate southwest winds.
Monday
Sunny spells with a few stray showers to start with. Cloud will gradually build from the southwest with a few spots of light rain or drizzle developing. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly breezes.
