Gardaí have carried out a series of armed raids in Limerick city as part of a crackdown on an organised crime group suspected in a series of burglaries.
The raids were carried out by Gardaí from several divisions with the assistance of the Armed Support Unit and the Garda Dog Unit. An amount of cannabis worth an estimated €6,500 was seized along with an undisclosed quantity of cash. The drugs seized will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for a formal analysis.
Following searches at a number of properties, a man in his 30s was arrested in connection with the investigation. He is currently being held at a Garda station in Clare.
Gardaí believe the groups targeted in today’s raids have stolen a substantial amount of property over the last twelve months, including a number of high-value cars. Investigations into the thefts are ongoing.
A Garda spokesperson said: “As part of an operation targeting an Organised Crime Group (OCG) suspected of being involved in commercial and domestic burglaries and the theft of high-value vehicles, An Garda Síochána has conducted searches in Limerick City today Monday, 13th January 2025.

“During searches of a number of residences in the city, Gardaí arrested a man and have seized suspected cannabis with an approximate value of €6,500 along with a sum of cash.
“The drugs seized are now subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland. The operation was led by the Garda Clare/Tipperary Division supported by members from Galway and Limerick, the regional Armed Support Unit as well as the Garda Dog Unit.
