A man has been jailed for nine years after he stabbed a police officer in the neck with a key. Khari Salmon ran from a car after it was stopped by officers in Beeches Road, Rowley Regis, last October.
The 20-year-old made a run for it down an alleyway and launched an attack of two police officers. One was stabbed in the neck with a key and the other was kicked.
Neither were seriously hurt, a spokesperson for West Midlands Police said. As officers were trying to detain him, Salmon led them to a flat being used to manufacture Class A drugs and large amounts of money were also found.

A search of the Audi he was driving found a holdall containing Class A drugs and more money. And a handgun was discovered in a holdall Salmon had disguarded.
Overall, it’s estimated he was in possession of heroin and crack cocaine worth more than £40,000 and over £12,500 in cash. Salmon, of Wolseley Road, West Bromwich, admitted possessing a firearm, ammunition, having drugs with intent to supply, assaults and being concerned in the production of drugs.
He was jailed for nine years at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday, January 10. A spokesperson for the force added: “The investigation was led by our Major Crime Team and we’re continuing to take drugs and guns off the streets as part of Operation Target.”
