Driver sought after leaving crash scene in Torquay where teen pedestrian was injured

A teenage boy has suffered injuries after a crash in Torquay after which the driver left the scene without leaving their details. Police were alerted to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian on Barton Hill Road around 3.15pm on Monday, January 13.

The boy suffered an injury to his foot. The driver of the car briefly stopped at the scene after the crash but did not speak to the victim or exchange details, police said. Officers are now looking for the driver.

Devon and Cornwall Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. Anyone with relevant dashcam footage is asked to call 101 quoting the reference number 50250009763.

A statement from Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in Barton Hill Road, Torquay.

“On Monday 13 January 2025 at 3.15pm a single vehicle collided with a teenage boy, causing injury to his foot. The driver briefly stopped before leaving the scene without having spoken to the victim or exchanging details.

“The boy’s injuries are not considered serious. Officers are investigating the incident and appealing for information from the public. Any witnesses or drivers with relevant dash cam footage are requested to contact 101 or visit our website quoting reference number 50250009763.”
