Doncaster Rovers have sold out of their allocation for Sunday’s FA Cup third round tie at the MKM Stadium as Grant McCann’s men look to replicate their cup shock of last season.
McCann’s men, who sit seventh in League Two, will bring 2,340 fans to the MKM Stadium, having sold all of the tickets given to them by City. They will not be offered any more, having sold their initial allocation of 1,031 before Christmas.
City are expecting a low attendance for the 12pm kick-off which was moved for international television broadcast, and have opted to open just the Chris Chilton Stand from blocks E3 through to E11, while the West Stand Lower is open from W1 through to W12, with the away following occupying the North Stand corner.
“Our allocation of 2,340 tickets for Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup tie at Hull City has now sold out. We have been informed that we will not be receiving any further allocation of tickets. Thank you for your amazing support,” Rovers said.
Rovers stunned City in the Carabao Cup last season, knocking the Tigers out at the first round stage by two goals to one, and then thrashed the East Yorkshire outfit 4-0 in a pre-season friendly back in July, with the Championship club then managed by Tim Walter.
There will be no replays, so should Sunday’s game end all square, extra-time and if needed, penalties will be used to determine who progresses through to round four.
Should that be City, then their game at Cardiff City on February 8 will be rescheduled, owing to the the fourth round taking place over that weekend.
City under Ruben Selles will be looking for a confidence-boosting victory against Rovers. Should they do that, it will be the first time they’ve made it past the third round since the ill-fated 2019/20 campaign when they lost to Chelsea in round four.
Since getting to the final in May 2014, City have only gone past the fourth round on two occasions, getting to the fifth before losing to Arsenal and Chelsea respectively.
Tickets for the high-noon meeting on Sunday remain on sale with prices for youngsters starting at £3.00 rising to £12 for members, or £3.50 to £16.00 for non-members.
