Dog whisperer shares ‘king of all dogs’ and top three breeds he’d work with

A professional dog whisperer has candidly opened up about the top breeds that he’d opt for if restricted to only three choices for his future work and companionship. Will Atherton took to TikTok to express why these particular pooches have won over his heart, be it due to their trainability, devoted nature, or intelligence.

His reveal scooped up over 42,000 likes from canine lovers as this British dog expert declared: “If I could only ever choose three breeds to work with or own in the future, these are the one’s I would choose.”

His standout pick was the Cane Corso, a robust Italian breed from the mastiff family, embodying strength, smarts, and a protective streak. Perfect for those seeking a presence of security, this breed boasts a history rich in diverse roles such as guarding, hunting, and farm work.

Despite their solid exterior, a loving heart beats within especially towards their human family.

Will disclosed: “Number one would be the Cane Corso. I absolutely love mastiff breeds. Of all the mastiff breeds, for me I would be torn between the English mastiff and the Cane Corso.”, reports the Express US.

Settling on his ultimate choice, he added: “If I had to choose, I would probably go Cane Corso for slightly less of an issue around common health issues and slightly increased athleticism. It just lets them enjoy walks more.”

For prospective owners eyeing a Cane Corso, there is a significant emphasis on comprehensive preadoption research, alongside a commitment to rigorous training and early socialisation.

German Shepherds are not just a close second for some dog enthusiasts; they’re often pegged as a breed particularly suitable for experienced owners. These large working dogs hail from Germany and are noted for their intelligence, strength, and adaptability, making them one of the most well-known and favoured breeds internationally.

Will, an avowed aficionado of German Shepherds, explained his preference: “Next up would be the German shepherd – one of the best dog breeds to train and one of the best all-around dog breeds. They can turn their hand to absolutely anything.”

However, there’s a possible drawback he pointed out: “The downside for them is they tend to be quite excessive barkers, so keep this in mind if you’re not ready for that. That could become an issue for you in the future.”

These intelligent canines shine when it comes to trainability, excelling across a spectrum of roles like police and military service, search and rescue missions, as well as therapy and service work. Furthermore, with the right training, their loyal, confident, and brave nature makes them splendid family pets.

Wrapping up the ranking, Will shared his top choice among all breeds. He said: “Last but not least – and this is the reality if I could only ever choose one breed it would be the Labrador retriever. For me, the king of all dog breeds.”

One can’t help but ponder what drives such profound admiration.

The Labrador retriever, a breed renowned for its friendly and outgoing nature, originates from Newfoundland, Canada. Initially bred to assist fishermen in retrieving nets and catching escaped fish, Labradors are praised for their intelligence, loyalty, and eagerness to please.

These characteristics make them excellent companions and service dogs.
