Derby County set for triple boost after FA Cup clash called off

Derby County will welcome back Ebou Adams for Tuesday’s trip to Leyton Orient while Ryan Nyambe and Eiran Cashin are also set to return to training.

Adams will be available for the third-round clash which has been rearranged for Tuesday after it was called off at the weekend because of a frozen pitch. The midfielder would have missed the game on Saturday after going through concussion protocol after taking a blow to the head in the 4-2 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday on New Year’s Day.

And in what is a further boost to head coach Paul Warne, both Nyambe and Cashin are due to return to training on Monday following knee and hamstring injuries respectively.

It is unlikely the duo will be risked from the start on Tuesday night but Adams could come into contention as Warne explained how the Derby midfielder picked up his injury.

“In the last kick of the game at Sheffield Wednesday, he took a bit of hit to the head,” he said.

“The physios didn’t come on, but he looked a bit wobbly. He didn’t look so good, he finished the game and then he did the concussion protocol after the game.

“He scored highly which meant he was confused and because he had another one previously this season, he had to jump through greater hoops to get back in.”

While Cashin, Adams and Nyambe all due to return to training, midfielder David Ozoh is also expected at the back end of next week with the on-loan Crystal Palace midfielder finally pushing for a return. With illness affecting the first-team squad and staff, Derby’s options going into Tuesday night will be much stronger.
