Derby County have allowed Tony Weston to remain with National League side Boston United until the end of the season.
The forward bagged his first goal for the Pilgrims recently having scored in an FA Trophy success over promotion-chasing Gateshead. Weston was originally due to return to Derby this month, but it has now been decided that he will remain with Graham Coughlan’s side to bank more senior experience.
The former Rangers forward, who plays for Derby’s under-21s, has played 15 times for the Pilgrims, but it would have been more had he not suffered a broken metatarsal in October. Weston has one senior appearance under his belt for Derby in which he scored during a 4-1 win over Wolves, a game in which he also registered assist in November last year.
While Weston is staying with Boston, teenage striker Lennon Wheeldon is heading back to the club from the Pilgrims after signing on a month’s loan.
The 18-year-old England youth international featured three times Boston in the National League, earning four points with a 3-1 win over Braintree and a goalless draw with Ebbsfleet.
