The body of a dog wrapped inside a bin liner has been found in woodland in Cornwall. The animal was discovered wrapped inside a bin bag in a dog bed near Chacewater, Truro and reported to the RSPCA on December 12.
The RSPCA said the dog is believed to have been a French bulldog or other brachycephalic breed – breeds which have a flatter face – but the body had started to decompose and staff were unable to tell if the dog was male or female. It is not yet known where the dog came from.
The charity are asking members of the public to aid their investigation to establish what happened to the animal. RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer Abi Kemp, who is investigating for the charity, said: “The dog is thought to have been a French bulldog or brachycephalic breed dog but because the body had sadly started to decompose, we’ve not been able to establish if the dog was male or female.
“The dog was microchipped but the information was not up to date so we’re keen to find out more about where the dog has come from and how the body came to be hidden in the woodland near Truro. We’re now appealing to the public to help us as we investigate what has happened to this poor dog.
“Every act of kindness makes a difference and this includes the public calling us with information to help our investigation. If anyone recognises the description of this dog, or the bed the dog was left in, or saw anything suspicious in the area then we’d urge them to get in touch.”
