Dubliners have been fondly reminiscing over their “great memories” at The Living Room, the much-loved local watering hole on Cathal Brugha Street, just a stone’s throw from O’Connell Street, following news of its imminent closure this coming Monday.
Fans of the pub were quick to express their sentiments after it announced it would be shutting up shop for the last time but not without hinting at a new beginning with an exciting announcement slated for the near future. The beloved boozer was famous for its electric atmosphere, stunning beer garden, buzzing vibes, and wallet-friendly booze and pizza offerings, reports the Irish Mirror.
Punters took to social media to share tales of good times had at the establishment, with one saying: “Was like the first places I’ve been to when I moved there in 2006, and living in the hostel nearby. Left Ireland 10 years already. Great memories”.
A simple yet poignant observation was noted: “Hugely popular but not popular enough” Its popularity remained unquestioned, especially among patrons posting glowing tributes on Tripadvisor, with one patron reviewing: “As the title suggests, this is the place to be if you’re over in Dublin and looking for somewhere to watch sports and have a drink.”
Another satisfied customer recounted: “Hundreds of screens including a few really big ones, covering pretty much every live sport imaginable. We were there on a Saturday afternoon whilst the football was on, the atmosphere was amazing.”
One patron shared: “Stayed close by so this was our nearest ‘party’ bar. Great atmosphere, pizzas brill and reasonably priced Guinness. All in all would recommend you visit as music later in evening for those wanting to stagger about and strut their stuff. Very relaxed vibe despite being a very large venue. No hassle just enjoy the sport and vibe”. “The place is massive and the bar staff are insanely quick at getting everyone sorted.”
A further review reads: “TV screens everywhere showing 4/5 different sports at once and it’s was ridiculously cheap prepared to other bars in the area, €20 for a 3 pint pitcher! Had a pizza from the place in the garden as well and that was incredible. The atmosphere was electric the whole time as the place was packed.”
