A Coventry couple who welcomed the first baby of 2025 in the city say they are ‘overjoyed.’ Saraswoti and Ramish Pandey welcomed their ‘beautiful’ bundle of joy into the world on New Year’s Day.
Baby Sriyana was born at University Hospital Coventry in Walsgrave. She arrived at 1.32am, weighing 6lbs and 13oz.
Staff at UHCW were said to have been ‘extremely busy’ delivering newborns yesterday (Wednesday, January 1). Midwives had delivered eight new babies, six boys and two girls, by 4.30pm.

In a statement issued yesterday (January 1), University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire said: “Welcome to the world, sweet Sriyana Pandey, here with proud parents Saraswoti and Ramish.
“Our marvellous midwives and maternity staff have been extremely busy today. Since midnight they have helped to deliver eight new babies, six boys and two girls, with more set to arrive later.
“Congratulations to all our parents and a big thank you to every member of staff working today (January 1).”
