A couple managed to spend less than £260 for an eight-hour trip to Ibiza.
Jenette Hardy, 42, and her husband Daniel, 49, decided to do something a bit different and flew out from Manchester Airport. Jenette, who is the director of an events entertainment company, wanted a break from the grey Cumbrian skies.
So, she booked flights to the sunnier Spanish skies to relax and unwind for the day. They managed to pull it off for less than £260, the ECHO reports.
Jenette said: “We explored the marina and viewed the super yachts. Then we wandered up through Ibiza Town and had a coffee at Plaça de la Constitució, where there was a market to browse and we could people watch.
“We took some photos and stopped in Plaça del Sol for a jug of sangria before walking to Figueretes Beach and a gluten-free tapas restaurant I had seen on Google.”
The couple arrived on the island at 9.50am after their Manchester Airport flight. Finally, after exploring the island for eight hours, the couple headed back to the airport for their flight that evening.
Jenette said: “We left home at 1.30am and arrived back at 2am the following day. We chose Ibiza because the flights were reasonably cheap, we had a good amount of time there and knew it would likely be warm enough for a t-shirt in October.”
The couple spent £75 each on flights, £18 on airport parking, £78 on food and drink, £3 on a bus and £8 on souvenirs for their kids – a grand total of £257. But this wasn’t a one-off for the pair.
She said: “This year we went to Dublin for my husband’s birthday in January, we took my mother-in-law to Geneva in March and in February I took our two children, my brother-in-law and a friend to Belfast.”
She added: “You will be tired if you have had an early start so try and sleep on the plane. Plan bigger activities for the morning, so if you do get tired later on you are not too tired to enjoy them.
“Do your research before you go, Work out which one or two attractions you want to see and the transport system so you don’t waste time once you are there.”
