Coronation Street actor Sam Aston has been tipped to take home this year’s Dancing On Ice trophy.
The BonusCodeBets.co.uk Supercomputer, which correctly predicted Danny Jones to win I’m A Celebrity 2024, has forecast this year’s skating champ by analysing the traits of all 16 previous winners – determining that a typical victor is a 31-year-old male actor.
Based on that formula, Burnley-born Sam Aston, who plays Chesney Brown in Corrie, perfectly matches that of a typical winner. The show is set to start on Sunday January 12.
With almost half (47%) of previous winners being actors (7/16), soap star Sam will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of champions from the acting world, including former co-star and 2024 winner, Ryan Thomas.
Elsewhere, comedian Josh Jones will be looking to become the first person in his profession to skate his way to victory.
Currently priced at 5/1, the bookies see Burnley-born Sam Aston as the second favourite to secure the trophy, with former Traitors star, Mollie Pearce (9/2) as the favoured contestant.
Two former British sportsmen, including former centre-back Anton Ferdinand and five-time Olympic gold medallist, Sir Steve Redgrave, will be looking to add the skating award to their respective trophy cabinets – becoming only the third sportsperson to take home the gold.
A spokesperson for BonusCodeBets.co.uk said: “After carefully analysing the secret recipe for Dancing on Ice champions – a mix of soap star charm and the ability to land a spin without falling over (most of the time), we’re confident Corrie star Sam Aston is skating straight to victory.
“Mark our words: this year’s trophy is already engraved…Probably.”
