Coronation Street fans have developed a theory about the true identity of DS Lisa Swain’s late partner, Becky, following a confrontation with the troublesome Matty Radcliffe. Earlier in 2024, it was revealed that Lisa’s former partner had been killed while on duty.
The couple share a daughter, Betsy, and it’s evident that their relationship has been strained since Becky’s passing. However, viewers are now witnessing Lisa cautiously beginning a new relationship with Carla Connor, initially surprising Betsy, but the trio seem to be gradually accepting the idea of becoming a stable family unit.
Despite these changes, Lisa remains haunted by her past. The year concluded with a stressed Lisa disclosing a burst pipe and a flooded flat, leading Carla to invite her and Betsy to stay over for New Year.

As they moved into her flat, Carla discovered files related to Becky’s death among Lisa’s belongings, which made her feel uncomfortable. Later, Lisa surprised Carla with a romantic lunch at the café, but an urgent call about an incident disrupted the atmosphere.
After returning to the street with a bruised face and split lip, Lisa reassured Carla she was fine and ready for a drink. In the Rovers, after the countdown to 2025, Carla confessed her love for her new partner, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Wednesday’s episode (January 1) picked up in the new year with Roy growing concerned for Carla, who seemed disoriented and was hearing things. Despite his advice to rest, he discovered her barely conscious on her living room floor and called an ambulance.
At the hospital, the doctor suspected Carla might be battling sepsis. Meanwhile, Lisa confronted Matty, who had just been released, in the precinct, demanding to know his whereabouts on the night Becky was killed. Matty made a comment about Becky, saying she wouldn’t be proud of Lisa, which led to Lisa lashing out before Kit intervened.
