A man has been charged after an alleged assault on Christmas Eve that left a man in his 60s in hospital with serious injuries. Officers were called to a house in Didcot Close, Chesterfield, at around 1.50pm on Tuesday, December 24, after a call was made to police in relation to concerns for the safety of a man.
A 63-year-old man was found unconscious in the property having suffered several injuries. He was taken to hospital and police have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his injuries.
A spokesperson for Derbyshire police said: “A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, following an alleged assault on a man at his home in Chesterfield. At 1.50pm on Christmas Eve, a call was made to police in relation to a concern for the safety of a man at a house in Didcot Close.
“Officers arrived at the address to find a 63-year-old man unconscious within the property. He had suffered several injuries. The man was taken to hospital, a scene was put in place and an investigation began into the circumstances surrounding his injuries.”
Robert Dixon, aged 30, has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and he remains in custody. He appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court on Friday, December 27 and was remanded in custody.
He will next appear at court on Friday, January 24, 2025. The 63-year-old alleged victim remains in hospital and is in a stable condition with serious injuries.
