Celtic superfan Rod Stewart is celebrating his 80th birthday today (January 10).
The Hoops-mad soft rock legend and frequent visitor to Glasgow is celebrating with an epic cruise around the Caribbean. It has been speculated Sir Rod’s 10-day Caribbean birthday bash aboard a luxury yacht will cost more than £2 million.
The ‘Sailing’ singer began his island-hopping romp with all of his eight children, wife Penny Lancaster and other loved ones on Sunday (January 5). The Mirror reports Sir Rod and his clan are on a 288ft vessel with nine suites, a beauty salon, a gym, a Turkish bath, a swimming pool and a helipad.
Although there’s an ocean between Sir Rod and his beloved Celtic, Rod has been photographed watching a game on his laptop, with nothing able to get between him and his team. Grandfather-of-two Sir Rod was also snapped surrounded by loved ones as they all donned Celtic strips, with the singer beaming from ear to ear.
Wife Penny recently shared snaps of the family to Instagram as they embarked on a big ‘family night out’. The group of 14 can be seen enjoying the tropical evening with some drinks.

The former Faces frontman has followed Celtic from Parkhead all the way to Australia. The London-born singer says he feels ‘spiritually’ connected to Scotland, with his father being born in Leith, Edinburgh.
Sir Rod has a seat for life at Celtic Park, but first fell in love with the Hoops around the age of 30 when he met legendary manager Jock Stein when he and Faces guitarist Ronnie Wood were invited to train with a team that included Kenny Dalgleish and Jimmy Johnstone.
Octogenarian Rod is preparing to play Glastonbury’s famous ‘legends’ slot, having previously headlined the festival in 2002. The much-anticipated Sunday afternoon slot has previously seen the likes of Tony Bennett, James Brown, Diana Ross and Dolly Parton take to the stage.
