Celebrity rivalry: The famous fans who support Blackburn or Burnley

Blackburn v Burnley is arguably one of the fiercest rivalries in football and even boasts some of the most recognisable faces.

From snooker legend Dennis Taylor to Corrie star Sam Aston the two East Lancashire clubs each have their own cohort of celebrity supporters.

Here we take a look at some of the household names who have set out their stalls for Rovers or the Clarets.

Blackburn

Matt Smith: The Doctor Who star’s family hail from Blackburn, his dad having been born in Darwen, with the actor recently revealing that his Aunty Doreen “still lives in Blackburn Road”.

Dennis Taylor: The snooker legend lived in Blackburn for 37 years and moved to Darwen when he was 17 where he worked at Waterside Paper Mill.

Other famous faces to support Rovers include another snooker star; Stephen Hendry, comedian Lee Mack, League of Gentleman actor Steve Pemberton, comedian Jim Bowen, MP Tim Farron and motorbike legend Carl Fogarty.

Burnley

Jordan North: The radio DJ, born in Burnley, has supported his hometown’s club since birth. He has previously described Turf Moor as his “happy place”.

King Charles III: The King revealed in a speech at Windsor Castle in 2012 that he is a fan of Burnley.

Alastair Campbell: The journalist and political strategist is a lifelong supporter of Burnley and was involved in rescuing the club from the prospect of bankruptcy.

Other celebs who you might be lucky enough to see at Turf Moor include cricketer James Anderson, Coronation Street star Sam Aston and rapper Snoop Dogg.
