An animal charity has spoken out about the “pure cruelty” inflicted upon cats in a Cornish home, where kittens were neglected and killed to serve as food. Clay County Cat Care, located in St Austell, reported attending an emergency at a residence where cats had been abandoned for weeks without food or water, and without heating or power.
The charity revealed that four cats had already perished and six five-week-old kittens had been slaughtered and used as food for the older cats. An additional two cats had been taken away by the RSPCA.
In a Facebook post, the charity shared that it was able to rescue four cats from the property – Sully, Mikey, Alabama and Aurora. The post detailed: “They were living in their own excrement and we were shown videos of the condition of the property, these cats have urine burns on their legs and paws for having to lay in their own mess.”
“And as you have already guessed these poor babies were just being used as money makers. It makes me sick that these poor cats and the ones that sadly didn’t make it have been left to suffer in such a cruel and horrific way, they are now safe with us and will be getting the vet care and treatment they require.”

In a subsequent post on December 31, Clay County Cat Care disclosed that Sully, Mikey, Alabama and Aurora were found to have various health problems, including being underweight, showing signs of cat flu and some with slight heart murmurs. All four will now remain in isolation until they have recovered and will be booked in for neutering, reports Cornwall Live.
The charity has stated these cats are not up for adoption because they require “a lot of treatment and love to get back to being healthy and well cats”.
