Car parking fees could increase in Surrey area as council looks to strengthen enforcement

Car parking fees could go up at certain car parks in Tandridge. The borough council is proposing changing how they charge for off street parking in order to cover maintenance, and enforcement.

The changes are currently up for consultation, and are scheduled to come into effect on March 3. The council says that the changes are needed to “maintain the vitality and viability of town centres and local facilities.”

Documents show the fees are intended to be used to improve and maintain carparks and for regular enforcement to ensure restrictions are being respected. This would be the first increase since 2018.

Changes being proposed include higher parking charges, as well as increased season ticket and contract space fees. There are no changes proposed to the two, three and four hour free parking available. The council owned car parks affected and the proposed fees are:

  • Town End, Caterham (CR3 5UG):

    • 0 – 3 Hours Free

    • 3 –4 Hours £1.30 (from £1.20)

    • 4 – 5 Hours £2.90 (from £2.60)

    • 5 – 6 Hours £4.10 (from £3.70)

  • Mill Lane, Hurst Green (RH8 9DF):

  • Gun Pit Road, Lingfield (RH7 6AR):

    • 0-3 Hours Free – no return within 3 hours

    • 3 – 4 Hours £1.30 (from £1.20)

    • 4 – 5 Hours £2.90 (from £2.60)

    • 5 – 6 Hours £4.10 (from £3.70)

    • Long term: £319.60 (from £290.50)

  • Ellice Road, Oxted (RH8 0PY):

    • 0-2 hours: free

    • 2-3 hours: £3.30 (from £3)

    • 3-4 hours: £5.00 (from £4.50)

    • Over 4 hours: £7.20 (from 6.50)

    • Long term: £601 (from £546.70)

  • Hillside Road, Whyteleafe (CR3 0BS):

  • Station Road, Whyteleafe (CR3 0EP):

    • 0-3 Hours Free

    • 3 – 4 Hours £1.30 (from 1.20)

    • 4 – 5 Hours £2.90 (from £2.60)

    • 5 – 6 Hours £4.10 (from £3.70)

    • Long term: £319.60 (from £290.50)

  • Whyteleafe Recreation Ground (CR6 9TH):

  • Woldingham Road, Woldingham (CR3 7LT):

    • Before 9.15 a.m. £4.40 per day – single charge – Monday-Saturday (from £4)

    • Off peak section: After 9.15 a.m. £2.30 per day – single charge with six reserved spaces (from £2.10)

Free car parking is available in all the car parks affected, except at Woldingham train station and Hillside Road, Whyteleafe.
