Cannabis farm and ‘living quarters’ found inside ‘unsafe’ Nuneaton pub

A huge cannabis farm has been discovered inside a former pub in Nuneaton. Police seized more than 400 plants from inside the vacant Old Green Bear pub in Church Road on January 15.

The pub was closed in 2022 after the fire service deemed it structurally unsafe. Police raided the site after tip-offs from the local community.

Officers discovered living quarters “for the people tending to grow” in a “linked building”. PC Amelia Loveridge, from Nuneaton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Thank you to everyone who provided information about suspicious activity at the site of a former pub in Church Road.

“The fire brigade put a closure order in place on the building in 2022 due to it being unsafe. They were concerned there was a serious safety risk to anyone going into the building and this in turn could pose a risk to surrounding buildings.

“As a result of the information provided we went to check on the site yesterday and discovered it was being used to grow cannabis. We seized 400 plants and discovered the living quarters for the people tending to grow in a linked building.

“We’re carrying out enquiries to identify those involved and are appealing for anyone with more information to contact us.”
