Burglar stole £8,000 of stock from bar, including slushie machine and pizza oven

A burglar walked into the Out Out bar in Hartlepool, and left with a slushie machine, a Jagermeister spirit dispenser and a pizza oven.

Samuel Musgrave, 49, was dressed in a high viz vest when he burgled the Out Out bar on June 13. He told police that he thought the items in the bar “had been abandoned.”

Musgrave stole £8,000 worth of stock – which also included a glass washing machine and a large screen projector. He was caught after police recognised him from the bar’s CCTV.

Teesside Crown Court has heard that Musgrave, who has previous convictions for burglary, “was out looking for scrap” when he saw an opportunity to walk into the bar on Navigation Point.

Judge Timothy Stead told him: “You care for your father and you’ve got a teenage daughter and a wife. It’s time to avoid this type of temptation.

“There’s no point me filling the prisons with this type of crime. Although if you do it again in the near future the court will probably feel it has to.”

Musgrave, of Kirkdale Street in Hetton-le-Hole, was handed an eight-month prison term, suspended for 18-months. He was ordered to carry out 100-hours of unpaid work and attend 30-rehabilitation days.
