The top 50 fish and chip shops in the UK have been revealed in a definitive list spanning every one of the country’s home nations.
Brits have debated the best joint for the meal for more than a century, with many different restaurants having attempted to claim the title over the years. But with the advent of the internet and the ability to see reviews online, it has become possible to pick out which score the highest.
One publication has tried to do just that, using reviews submitted by the general public to put together a list of the top 50 highest rated in the country. Fry Magazine has compiled a massive list with dozens of entries using the opinions of mystery diners, with the best among them winning the approval of more than 95% of reviewers.

The magazine compiled its list by asking its mystery diners how they rated the cleanliness, food quality and value for money of each location across the UK. But rather than assigning each chippie to a spot on a ranked list, the locations were presented altogether as the best in the country.
