Bristol Airport opens bids for ground service equipment partner

Bristol Airport is gearing up to take its ground operations to new heights.

The airport is inviting expressions of interest from a turnkey ground service equipment supplier, to work collaboratively with airport partners, to form a new ground service handling equipment pooling arrangement.

This will involve the supply, maintenance, monitoring and organisation of key operational equipment used for the turnaround of aircraft, operating on a shared use basis.

An airport spokesperson said: “We seek a forward thinking, innovative and environmentally aware organisation that will help shape the solution that will provide wide reaching benefits for the Airport and our strategic partners.

“The procurement will run to the following timetable with suitable suppliers being able to express an interest and submit a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) through its e-tendering system In-Tend by 24th January.

“Successful organisations at the Pre-Qualification (PQQ) stage will be invited to tender for the services.”

The procurement process for Bristol Airport’s ground service equipment supplier begins with expressions of interest and Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) due by January 24. Shortlisted candidates will be announced on February 7, followed by invitations to tender on February 14. Tenders are due by March 28, with evaluations, including potential interviews, running until April 30. The intention to award will be announced in mid-May, with the contract awarded on June 30. The contract, spanning an initial term of five years or more, is set to commence on April 1, 2026.

Suppliers are invited to express an interest and respond to our PQQ by visiting the dedicated e-tendering site In-tend.

Graeme Gamble, Chief Operating Officer, Bristol Airport said: “We are looking forward to hearing from businesses who would like to tender for a ground service equipment supplier at Bristol Airport. The preferred partner could be UK based, international or a local company with airport expertise.

“A solid track record of providing a safe, secure and reliable operational service in the aviation industry is crucial. Bristol Airport is a fast-paced and dynamic environment with innovation and new ways of working central to our business. We are looking for key business partners to provide a first-class service and to meet the Airport’s core strategic values.”
