Boy ‘threatened with knife’ near Coventry Asda

A teenage boy was reportedly threatened with a knife in Coventry. It happened near Asda in Cheylesmore at around 2pm on Sunday (December 29).

Police received a report of a 15-year-old boy being approached by a person on Montalt Road. He was reportedly asked if he wanted to buy drugs, to which he refused.

It is believed the person then produced a knife before fleeing. Thankfully, the boy escaped uninjured.

Officers searched nearby but were unable to find the suspect, West Midlands Police told CoventryLive. Anyone who witnessed the incident has been urged to report what they saw by calling 101.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We received a report of a boy being approached by someone who he believed could be armed with a knife on Montalt Road on Sunday (December 29).

“A knife is not understood to have been produced, and the boy was not injured. A search of the area was carried out, but no one matching the description was traced.”
