A boy was rushed to hospital with potentially serious injuries after he was struck by a car in Oldbury. The incident happened on A4034 Birchfield Lane at around 3.55pm this afternoon, January 16.
Paramedics treated the boy at the scene before he was rushed to Midland Metropolitan University Hospital for further treatment. Police – also called to the incident – said his injuries were not life-threatening.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a collision between a car and pedestrian on Birchfield Lane at 3.55pm. One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene.

“On arrival we discovered one patient, a boy, who was the pedestrian. He was treated for potentially serious injuries before being taken to the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital.”
A West Midlands Police spokesperson added: “We’ve been called following a collision involving a car and a child in Birchfield Lane, Oldbury. It happened at around 4pm and the child’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.”
Birchfield Lane was blocked in both directions following the incident. The number 4 bus service was diverted at the time.
West Midlands Roads wrote on social media platform X: “A4034 Birchfield Lane – police Incident. Road closed towards Blackheath. Plan Ahead. Allow extra time for your journey and consider alternative routes where possible.”
