Boy, 16, arrested after car flipped on its roof in Medway crash

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested following a crash in Medway which saw a car flip onto its roof during the early hours of this morning (Tuesday, December 31). Emergency services, including police and paramedics, were called to the scene in Rainham at around 3.20am.

One car had been involved in the crash in the High Street. Images from the scene show that the vehicle had ended up on its roof following the collision and caused extensive damage to a set of traffic lights near the turning for Otterham Quay Lane.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called at around 3.20am following a single-vehicle collision on High Street, Rainham. Officers attended and arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of driving without a licence or insurance, and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.”

The boy was subsequently taken to a local hospital as a precaution following the collision. He did not sustain any serious injuries and there have been no further casualties reported.

A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) added: “SECAmb were called at approximately 3.25am this morning (31/12/24) to reports of a single vehicle collision on the High Street in Rainham. One patient was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for further medical treatment.”
