One of the most popular bars in Stoke-on-Trent has announced it will close for good. Bloom Hanley – famed for its bottomless brunches and cocktails – has confirmed it will open for the final time on Sunday, January 19.
The Piccadilly venue will then relaunch on Saturday, February 1 with a ‘new concept’, the details of which are being kept under wraps. It is hoped the new offering will help ‘drive traffic’ after a ‘difficult time’.
The move comes after Hanley Bloom – operated by Breakthrough Bars for the last year – warned it was fighting for survival following the riots last summer and the cost of living crisis.
The change does not affect Bloom’s other bar in Newcastle town centre which is set to undergo a refurbishment in the next month. Writing on social media this afternoon (January 7), Bloom Hanley said: “All good things have to come to an end. We’ve decided that the time has come to close Bloom Hanley and end on a high!
“The site will close on Sunday 19th January giving you a chance to have one last experience with us! There have been some AMAZING memories in the site and we’ve loved every minute but it’s time to make room for a new concept!
“We will be announcing our new venue concept soon, this will launch on Saturday 1st February and will be something you’ve never seen! (Don’t worry bottomless will still be around!) We are open Wednesday to Sunday from midday so shimmy on in for a few cocktails.”
Dozens of people took to the comments to share their dismay. One wrote: “Very very sad, another lovely place going.” Another added: “I’m gutted but at least you’re staying in Newcastle.”
And a third wrote: “All the best Bloom, you were the first of your kind. I’m second guessing what your next initiative will be.”
Breakthrough Bars acquired the Bloom bars in Hanley and Newcastle-under-Lyme early in 2024 after taking on the former Bloom bar, in Stone, which was rebranded as Blame Frida.
