Best pub in Cornwall crowned as one in every English county chosen as a winner

A pub has beat several hundred others in Cornwall to be crowned the best in the county. A travel expert has compiled a list of the best pubs in England featuring only one in each area.

The Telegraph curated the findings based on several important factors so that you can get to a brilliant boozer no matter where you live or travel. Sadly, this excludes Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

And for Cornwall, it found that the best pub was a charming, late medieval inn with its own skittle alley. Bringing a proper dose of Cornish charm to the list, The Blue Anchor in Helston was called Britain’s oldest ‘brewpub’ and praised for its atmospheric interiors.

Writing for the Telegraph, Will Hawkes said of the Coinagehall Street pub: “Charismatic and thatch-roofed, The Blue Anchor draws visitors from near and far for its ‘Spingo’ beer, which is made in a tiny brewery at the back. This is Britain’s oldest brewpub, with a brewing tradition that may or may not date back to the 18th century.

“The atmospheric interior reflects the pub’s long history.” For the full article, and to find out what he had to say about each pub, click here.
