‘Beloved dog’ dies as police investigate Crewe ‘hit-and-run’

Police are appealing for witnesses after a dog walker was hurt and their ‘beloved’ pet killed in a suspected hit-and-run in South Cheshire. Emergency services had been called to reports of a collision on Crewe’s Underwood Lane.

But investigating officers say the car involved ‘a white SUV-type vehicle’ didn’t stick around. Now Cheshire Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward after confirming the dog, Pixie, died at the scene.

The collision had occurred on Underwood Lane at the junction with Windsor Avenue just after 5.25pm on December 17. A spokeswoman for the constabulary said: “The incident involved a pedestrian who was walking her dog, and a car. The female pedestrian is believed to have suffered minor injuries, however her dog Pixie sadly died at the scene.

“The car, which is believed to be a white SUV-type vehicle failed to stop.”

PC Lorna Allix wants to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision. PC Allix said: “This is a very sad incident which not only left a member of the public injured, but her beloved dog sadly died as a result of the injuries caused by the collision.

“We would urge anyone who witnessed what happened or has any other information in relation to the incident to come forward. The same goes for anyone who may have any relevant CCTV, dashcam, or video doorbell footage.”

Witnesses should call the force on 101 and quote 24001059083. Meanwhile information can also be provided online here.
