BBC’s The Traitors fans are scratching their heads over a ‘completely unnecessary scene’ in the second episode which will air tonight (January 2).
The much-loved reality gameshow has made its New Year comeback, with the second instalment set to air on Thursday evening. Although it’s scheduled for an 8pm slot on BBC One, eager fans can get ahead of the game as it’s already up for streaming on iPlayer.
Early bird viewers have voiced their thoughts on a surprising moment that occurs just minutes into the show. This happens as the Traitors deliberate over which of the Faithfuls should be next for the axe.
The first episode had already thrown a curveball when three contestants were left stranded before even reaching the castle, having opted to bow out of the game and disembark the train before it arrived at its final stop.

In the initial stages of episode two, hot on the heels of the series’ first banishment, the Traitors are back at it, mulling over who they believe should be the next casualty. They whittle it down to three Faithfuls whose exit, they reckon, could give their strategy a boost, reports Wales Online.
Among them is Freddie, a 20-year-old Politics student from Peterborough. As the Traitors engage in their discussions, footage of each Faithful is displayed on screen, despite them supposedly being tucked away in their hotels at this stage of the evening. First up was Keith, seen practicing martial arts moves, followed by Leanne checking herself out in the mirror.

However, viewers were puzzled when Freddie was unexpectedly shown in the shower. Fans quickly took to social media to comment on this scene, with one referencing a line from the student earlier in the series, jestingly posting: “‘I’d like to be the first Black prime minister’ ‘k babe, can we get a shower shot.'”
The inclusion of the shower sequence raised eyebrows among viewers, prompting tweets such as: “Why was there just a completely unnecessary shot of a man showering in The Traitors?” and another chiming in with: “What was the need of that shower scene then… no need at all.”
Yet some weren’t upset by the steamy interlude, as expressed by a fan who reacted: “Not the shower scene already omg noooo. I mean, absolutely gorgeous material, but such a betrayal if he’s out already.”
The Traitors continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer
