The Traitors has left fans on the edge of their seats, convinced that a hidden twist is yet to be revealed after three contestants were eliminated just minutes into the new BBC series.
Broadcasted on January 1, the hit gameshow made a triumphant return for its third season with Claudia Winkleman back at the helm. The audience was introduced to 25 stars who are set to compete for up to £120,000 in this game of betrayal.
However, as the contestants journeyed towards the Scottish Highlands, where the series takes place, their train abruptly stopped and Claudia announced that each of the three carriages had ten minutes to sacrifice one member of the group to win £10,000.

Taken aback by the unexpected twist, the group found it difficult to agree on an eviction method, leading to three contestants volunteering for the sacrifice.
Ultimately, they managed to add £7,000 to the final prize pot, although they lost £3,000 due to their three-minute decision time, reports Wales Online.
Among the stars axed in the first episode was Alexander, a former British diplomat from London. He was joined by Fozia, a community development manager from Birmingham, and Jack, a landscaper from Yorkshire.
Despite voluntarily stepping off the train, the trio held onto hope that their forfeit would prove worthwhile. Viewers have been similarly trying to figure out what will happen to the evicted castmates.

Eagle-eyed fans took to social media to express their disbelief, with many speculating that another twist is yet to come.
On X, previously known as Twitter, one sharp viewer speculated: “The three who ‘sacrifice’ themselves will definitely be returning. There’s no way they’ll just be upping and leaving.” (sic)
Another user commented: “There’s got to be a catch.” While someone else chimed in: “Those 3 [will] prob turn up in a limo. Train journey ended not their game.” (sic)
Another tweet suggested a possible twist, as the fan wrote: “What if the 3 people they chose earlier are given like new roles to help the faithfuls out? Idk what but could be a good new twist.” (sic)
A different viewer was convinced there was more to come, saying: “There has to be a second layer to this train twist SURELY”, and another agreed: “The three that got off the train. There has to be a twist surely.” (sic)
In the third season’s first dramatic banishment, Yin, a 34-year-old doctor of communication from Berkshire, was ousted. Traitors Minah, Lisa, and Armani plotted her demise, fearing her smarts would reveal their true identities.
The Traitors returns tomorrow (January 2) on BBC1 at 8pm.
