However, what truly set viewers abuzz was the impromptu clip shared during the closing credits – a grainy, camcorder-style snippet which sees Rob Brydon (Bryn) and Rob Wilfort (Jason) in fitting attire and hairdos, finally going on that fabled fishing trip.
The mystery of the trip has long been a tantalising plot point, often teetering on the edge of revelation only to be comically thwarted, maintaining its secrecy, recounts Wales Online. Within the precious found footage, an excited Bryn can be overheard declaring, “Who do we have here? ” followed swiftly by a cut to Jason, brandishing a fish triumphantly.
Bryn’s voice rings out once more, jubilant: “No one will go hungry in this camp tonight.”
Just before the footage abruptly ends, we catch his final echo: “Enjoy your soup! ” The bubbling pot on an open flame became a crucial element from the fishing expedition which was exceedingly cold and encompassed situations that “were not illegal.”, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Audiences were overjoyed with the extra snippets from the trip. A fan effused: “Oh my Christ! What a surprising little Easter egg we just had at the end of the Gavin and Stacey farewell just then! ” Another tossed into the virtual ring on social media site X: “The fishing trip…brilliant ending.”
A further aficionado commented: “THE FISHING TRIP! ! ! What a way to close the entirety of this whole story! ” The disclosure whipped up a frenzy amongst watchers, with another broadcasting: “THE END OF THE GAVIN AND STACEY DOCUMENTARY OH MY GOD? ? ! “.
