In what might be the most ‘senior’ Intermediate game of all-time, Austin Stacks face Ballinderry in today’s All-Ireland Club IFC semi-final.
Both sides are former All-Ireland Club Senior champions with the Kerry side winning the Andy Merrigan Cup in 1977 while Ballinderry were champions in 2002.
The Tralee men contested the Munster Club SFC final as recently as 2021, losing to St Finbarr’s of Cork.

However, they were relegated from the senior ranks two seasons ago and they maintained Kerry’s remarkable record in the Munster Intermediate Championship as they crushed Aherlow of Tipperary 7-7 to 0-2 in last month’s decider in Mallow.
Ballinderry’s Ulster final was delayed by one week due to Storm Darragh and Jarlath Bell’s side scored a narrow 1-12 to 2-8 victory over last season’s Junior champions Arva with Darren Lawn scoring a dramatic winner in Omagh.
