Asda slashes price of over 2,500 products including Cathedral City cheese and Dolmio sauce

Asda is launching a significant price reduction on thousands of products starting today. The supermarket chain will lower the prices of over 2,500 everyday essentials by an average of 26% in both its physical stores and online platform.

Some notable price cuts include Cathedral City Mature Cheddar, Dolmio Bolognese Sauce, and Persil Wonder Wash. Additionally, Asda is reducing prices on some of its own-brand products, such as Asda Whole Chicken and Asda Salmon Fillets.

However, it’s still important to compare prices at other retailers to ensure the best deal, using websites like Trolley.co.uk for the latest prices. Asda’s Chief Customer Officer, David Hills, stated: “We know that as we come out of the festive period, budgets can be a concern for many families. Our Big Jan Price Drop aims to ease that burden and make money stretch further for our customers, by reducing the prices of the products they’re buying week in, week out, continuing to offer uncompromising value to all.”

This move follows Morrisons’ expansion of its price match initiative with Aldi and Lidl to cover more than 500 items, including olive oil, coffee, eggs, single cream, and pasta sauce, all of which Morrisons claims are priced the same as or lower than its discount store competitors.

Morrisons introduced its price match scheme in February 2024, covering over 200 products. The supermarket reviews prices twice a week and makes adjustments as needed, reports the Mirror.

Shoppers can find these savings in all Morrisons stores and online, although the Price Matched items are not available on third-party platforms such as Amazon or Deliveroo.
