Armed officers were spotted at a Leicestershire school site today, sparking concern from residents. Video footage reveals officers wielding firearms and a battering ram during the incident.
The armed officers were spotted today (Wednesday, January 15) at the former Holliers Walk Primary School in Hinckley’s Albert Road. Footage captured by Hinckley Town Centre’s Facebook page, showed several officers at the scene, with some of their weapons pointed towards buildings on the school grounds.
The heavy police presence at the former school, which has been vacant since 2016, led to some concern among residents about the nature of the operation. Officers were seen moving tactically around the site during the incident.

A witness, who wished to remain anyonmous, said they initially had safety concerns when they first spotted the armed officers. “We wondered if we should get out the way as we could be in someone’s line of fire if there was someone armed in the building,” they said.
The witness then revealed that signs in the former school’s car park stated police were there on a training exercise. A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police confirmed this, adding: “Officers were taking part in a training exercise. We are unable to provide any further information for operational reasons.”
LeicestershireLive asked police why a school had been chosen as the location for the exercise, but they declined to comment further.
