All the parts of the UK facing snow AGAIN on Wednesday as snow chaos enters its fifth day have been revealed. Grampian, Strathclyde, Dumfries, Galloway, Lothian, and their borders are all affected, according to a new Met Office warning.

The Highlands, Eilean Siar, Orkney and Shetland are also set to be covered in snow imminently. The Met Office wrote on X: “Snow and ice across parts of northern and western Scotland Tuesday 1200 – Wednesday 1200. Snow and ice across Northern Ireland Tuesday 1500 – Wednesday 1200.”

The Met Office alert warns: “Sleet and snow showers will continue for the rest of Tuesday, before becoming confined to northern and northeastern parts of the warning area on Wednesday. Further accumulations of 2 to 5 cm in places, and 5 to 10 cm above 200 metres across northern Scotland. Where any modest thaw has occurred, icy stretches are likely on untreated surfaces.”

The alert spans until midday on Wednesday, January 8. It goes on to state: ” Further rain, sleet and snow showers leading to some travel disruption. Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.

“Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths. Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.” Looking ahead to Tuesday night, the Met Office said: “Wintry showers will continue in the north through the evening and overnight. Most places will be dry, with lengthy clear skies and some freezing fog patches. A widespread severe frost.”

The Wednesday (January 8) outlook adds: “Many places will be dry, cold and sunny. However, southern counties of England could see some rain, sleet and snow at times. Wintry showers will also continue across Scotland.” And the o utlook for Thursday to Saturday goes on to say: ” Cold on Thursday, with sunshine and wintry showers.

“Dry for many Friday and Saturday, with some sunshine. Cloudier in the far west, with patchy rain and snow possible. Frosty nights.”
