All the Kent overnight closures on the M2, M20, A20, M25 and A249 this week

Drivers will need to navigate around a number of overnight closures impacting Kent’s major motorways and A-roads this week. Repairs and maintenance are scheduled for many of the county’s key routes over the coming nights, including the A2, A20, A21, M2, M20 and M25.

Works are once again taking place at the Dartford Crossing, meaning tunnel closures will be in effect at various points throughout the week. Additionally, the second of three full overnight closures on the QEII Bridge this month will be in effect between Saturday, January 18 to Sunday, January 19.

Works continue on the A249 near Sittingbourne to improve the Grovehurst Road junction. As such, both the A249 northbound exit slip, and the southbound entry slip for Grovehurst are currently closed until Saturday, January 18.

On three nights this week, the M2 coastbound will close between Junction 5, for Stockbury and Sittingbourne, and Junction 6, near Faversham. This is for bridge works, with the route to shut each night between 8pm and 6am.

Monday, January 13

  • The A2 eastbound Honeywood Interchange entry slip will close from 8pm to 5m for maintenance.

  • The A2 westbound link road to the M25 clockwise will close between 10pm and 5.30am for urgent loop repairs.

  • The A21 will shut in both directions from Flimwell to Johns Cross roundabout between 8pm and 6am for surface works.

  • The A21 northbound will be shut from Morleys Road roundabout to the A25 between 8pm and 6am structural works.

  • The A249 northbound exit slip and southbound entry slip for Grovehurst are both shut until Saturday, January 18 for improvement works.

  • The A282 northbound West Tunnel at the Dartford Crossing will be closed from 10pm to 5.30am for tunnel works. The A282 northbound Junction 1a entry slip road will also be shut during this time.

  • The M2 eastbound Junction 3 entry slip road will be closed from 8pm to 6am for survey works.

  • The M20 westbound Junction 6 exit and entry slips will close between 8pm and 6am for survey works.

  • The M20 eastbound Junction 10 exit slip will close from 8pm to 6am for horticulture works.

  • The M20 westbound Junction 13 exit and entry slips will close from 8pm to 6am for horticulture works.

  • The M25 anti-clockwise exit slip and link road to the A2 will shut from 10pm to 5am for technology works.

  • The M25 clockwise Junction 5 exit slip will shut from 10pm to 5.30am for NEAR Ms4 installation.

Tuesday, January 14

  • The A21 will shut in both directions from Flimwell to Johns Cross roundabout between 8pm and 6am for surface works.

  • The A21 southbound Pembury entry slip will close from 8pm to 6am for sign works.

  • The A21 northbound Quarry Hill entry slip will be closed from 8pm to 6am for technology works.

  • The A249 northbound exit slip and southbound entry slip for Grovehurst are both shut until Saturday, January 18 for improvement works.

  • The A282 northbound West Tunnel at the Dartford Crossing will be closed from 9pm to 5.30am for tunnel works. The A282 northbound Junction 1a entry slip road will also be shut during this time.

  • The M2 eastbound Junction 3 entry slip road will be closed from 8pm to 6am for survey works.

  • The M20 westbound Junction 6 entry slip will close between 8pm and 6am for survey works.

  • The M25 clockwise will shut between Junction 3 and Junction 4 from 10pm to 5am for urgent loop repairs.

  • The M25 anti-clockwise link to the A2 westbound will close from 10pm to 5am for urgent electrical works.

Wednesday, January 15

  • The A2 westbound Patrixbourne entry slip will be shut from 10pm to 5am for maintenance.

  • The A21 will shut in both directions from Flimwell to Johns Cross roundabout between 8pm and 6am for surface works.

  • The A21 southbound Pembury entry slip will close from 8pm to 6am for sign works.

  • The A249 northbound exit slip and southbound entry slip for Grovehurst are both shut until Saturday, January 18 for improvement works.

  • The A282 northbound West Tunnel at the Dartford Crossing will be closed from 9pm to 5.30am for tunnel works. The A282 northbound Junction 1a entry slip road will also be shut during this time.

  • The A20 eastbound Swanley Interchange will shut between the entry and exit slips from 10pm on Friday, January 17 until 5am on Monday, January 20 for barrier works.

  • The A21 will shut in both directions from Flimwell to Johns Cross roundabout between 8pm and 6am for surface works.

  • The A21 southbound Pembury entry slip will close from 8pm to 6am for sign works.

  • The A21 southbound Westerham exit slip will shut between 8pm on Friday, January 17 until 6am on Monday, January 20 for structure works.

  • The A249 northbound exit slip and southbound entry slip for Grovehurst are both shut until Saturday, January 18 for improvement works.

  • The A282 northbound West Tunnel at the Dartford Crossing will be closed from 9pm to 6am for tunnel works. The A282 northbound Junction 1a entry slip road will also be shut during this time.

  • The M2 westbound Junction 3 entry slip road will be closed from 8pm to 6am for survey works.

Saturday, January 18

  • The west quadrant of the A2 Brenley Corner will be closed between 8pm and 6am for maintenance works.

  • The A20 eastbound Swanley Interchange will shut between the entry and exit slips from 10pm on Friday, January 17 until 5am on Monday, January 20 for barrier works.

  • The A21 southbound Westerham exit slip will shut between 8pm on Friday, January 17 until 6am on Monday, January 20 for structure works.

  • The QEII Bridge at the Dartford Crossing will shut from 10pm to 5am for maintenance. Southbound traffic will be diverted via the east tunnel. Vehicles less than 4.8m (15‘-9”) high travelling northbound will be able to use the west tunnel as usual and for vehicles between 4.8m (15‘-9”) and 5.0m (16’-6”) high, an alternative diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise.

  • The M2 westbound Junction 3 entry slip road will be closed from 8pm to 6am for survey works.

  • The M20 westbound will close at Junction 1 between the exit and entry slips from 10pm on Friday, January 17 until 5.30am on Monday, January 20 for barrier works.

Sunday, January 19

  • The A20 eastbound Swanley Interchange will shut between the entry and exit slips from 10pm on Friday, January 17 until 5am on Monday, January 20 for barrier works.

  • The A21 southbound Westerham exit slip will shut between 8pm on Friday, January 17 until 6am on Monday, January 20 for structure works.

  • The A282 northbound Dartford Crossing east tunnel will be shut from 10pm to 5am for maintenance. Vehicles less than 4.8m (15‘-9”) high will be diverted via the west tunnel. Vehicles between 4.8m (15‘-9”) and 5.0m (16’-6”) high will be diverted via M25 clockwise.

  • The M20 westbound will close at Junction 1 between the exit and entry slips from 10pm on Friday, January 17 until 5.30am on Monday, January 20 for barrier works.
