Alex Belfield jokes about his stalking crimes in new ‘AI video’

A mock-up AI video of convicted stalker Alex Belfield has been broadcast on his YouTube channel with his team once again appearing to make light of his crimes while promoting an upcoming summer tour.

Belfield’s website refers to him as “The Convicted Talker” and a message at the top of the website reads: “Thank you for stalking AlexBelfield.com – Officially a political prisoner since 2023”.

Now, a video has been broadcast on his YouTube channel, entitled ‘AI Alex Belfield Birthday Exclusive – Corrupt police, Evil BBC = Clown Court – EXPOSED’, featuring an animation of his police mugshot alongside a voiceover.

Viewers were told Belfield was preparing to make a return to the airwaves, on stage and in print with “his tour booked from August 2025”. The video claimed Belfield had been “taken hostage as a political prisoner”, “kidnapped by the state” and that he was subject to an “evil witch-hunt”.

The narrator said Belfield had been writing six books with his autobiography due to come out on June 15. Viewers were told Belfield is preparing: “Tell you the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth this summer.”

The video once again appeared to downplay the crimes, with the narrator in the AI video saying: “If you are feeling alarmed, in fear or distress, you too are being stalked by Alex Belfield.” The AI video on Sunday evening (January 12) was introduced by Tarquin, the producer of Belfield’s Voice of Reason podcast.

Belfield was sentenced to a total of five years and 26 weeks, with the court making it clear at the time that he would serve half of this in prison and the other half on licence. It means that Belfield is set to be released from prison in June 2025, though he will be sent straight back to prison if he breaches the terms of his licence.

Details on the synopsis of the YouTube video state a nationwide tour of his ‘A Voice of Reason’ podcast will begin in August. It adds Belfield’s incarceration has cost the taxpayer “£48,000 per year… whilst enjoying 3 meals a day”.

Belfield, formerly of Mapperley and who is currently serving a prison sentence at HMP Fosse Way in Leicester, was jailed in September 2022 over a campaign of stalking which saw him target two BBC presenters, a videographer and a theatre blogger.

He was convicted of stalking to cause alarm and distress to BBC Radio Northampton’s Bernie Keith, and guilty of the same charge concerning videographer Ben Hewis. He was further found guilty of “simple stalking” regarding theatre blogger Philip Dehany and to the “simple stalking” of Jeremy Vine, the presenter, broadcaster and journalist who is best known for hosting a show on BBC Radio 2.

Belfield, formerly of Shaldon Close in Mapperley, was also ordered to pay substantial damages after he falsely accused Nottinghamshire Police detective Janet Percival, who investigated him, of corruption. This came after Belfield broadcast a series of YouTube videos accusing DC Percival of numerous acts of misconduct and corruption, all of which were untrue.

Belfield’s YouTube channel regularly featured criticism of the BBC and the former employee of the corporation claimed he was jailed for speaking out about them. Yet this claim was rebuffed during sentencing by the judge, Mr Justice Saini, who said at the time: “I find that the motivating factor in your communications about these complainants was not the exercise of journalistic freedom to comment on matters of public interest, but personal grudges and responses to real or apparent slights.

“I am not imposing sentences on you because you made comments about the BBC or about matters of public interest. Your sentences reflect your repeated and personal harassment of the victims and not your views on any issue of public interest.

“You are entitled to hold and express views but you are not entitled to destroy the personal lives of your victims through online harassment.” As well as indefinite restraining orders being made in relation to the four people he was convicted of stalking, Belfield also had indefinite restraining orders imposed in relation to four women who he was cleared of stalking.
