This is the aftermath of a huge fire that broke out at a car salvage yard in Grimsby.
Crews from Humberside Fire and Rescue were called to Railway Street at around 11am on Sunday morning with reports of a blaze in the yard of Grimsby Car Salvage.
Plumes of thick grey smoke could be seen in various parts of Grimsby and Cleethorpes and further afield in Tetney.
Police were also at the scene, with officers going from door to door and advising people to stay away from the area and residents on Railway Street to keep their doors and windows closed. The road was closed to motorists as firefighters worked to tackle the blaze.
The Humberside Fire and Rescue incident log reads: “Multiple scrap cars involved in fire. Fire spread to onsite portacabins and metal containers. Five BA, two hose reels, four main lines, short extension ladder, Thermal Image Camera and small tools in use.”
Two days on from the blaze, workers were at the scene to clear debris and remove it from the site. Multiple cars and two shipping containers within the yard appear to have been destroyed.
The cause of the fire is currently unclear. Humberside Fire and Rescue and Grimsby Car Salvage have been contacted for comment.
