AENO Premium Eco Heater review: Simple heat with nifty, convenient controls

It’s not easy to talk about a heater and make it sound exciting, but at the time of writing this, the UK is experiencing another cold snap that means this review might end up being more pertinent than it otherwise would.

The AENO Premium Eco Heater may not have the sexiest name, but it’s made my cold, dark office infinitely more habitable in this chilly January, all while allowing the convenience of smart controls and a slimline design.

Add in a nifty built-in thermostat and you’ve got a product I wouldn’t want to be without.

One of my favourite parts of the AENO Premium Eco Heater is just how easy it is to get started. It comes with legs for letting it stand freely, but also some easy-to-fit brackets. I’ve put mine on the wall, and it’s so slimline it doesn’t really take up any room at all.

The front glass is what makes the magic happen, using infrared and convection heating across the panel. That sounds like it might be tricky with kids around, but a safety lock helps — still, it’s definitely best to keep kids away as not only does it warm up quickly, it gets pretty hot indeed with a top target temperature of 120 degrees celsius (although you can limit this).

Once it’s on the legs of the bracket, it took me about 2 minutes to not only have it controllable via the easy-to-use Aeno app, but also to have it work with my Alexa smart speaker to allow it to turn on and off with ease.

How exciting can a heater be, really? Well, for the one thing, the AENO Premium Eco Heater isn’t just a heater since it has a thermostat included, too.

Smart thermostats are nothing new, of course, but having one inside means you can set a target temperature and know the AENO will reach it as quickly as it can.

It does this through ‘Smart’ heating, which heats across the entire glass panel while using half as much energy as a more traditional heater. It’s in a sizeable room here, but heats relatively quickly, and without that uncomfortable feeling of a more narrow heat stream hitting you.

There is a ‘Constant heating’ option if you’d prefer, but using that negates the option to reach a target room temperature.

It’s easy to set a timer, and the AENO app lets you see how much energy has been consumed in any period, as well as power draw. Scheduling is also simple, so you can have it turn on in the early hours in the morning so it’s ready for the work day.

The Verdict – 4/5

An easy to use heater that’s packed with smart features, the AENO Premium Eco Heater is well worth a look for anyone looking to keep the January chill away — and maybe even save on the energy bill, too, so buy it now.
