ADHD instructor runs new gym as a ‘safe, welcoming and supportive space’

A woman who is staunchly proud of her ADHD has opened a safe and supportive gym and fitness centre near Plymouth. Tania Morris, and her husband Phil, will celebrate the launch of TMT Fort Fitness at Whitsand Bay Fort, in South East Cornwall, on January 4.

Tania said the family-run fitness service will be “a safe, welcoming and supportive space” for all members of the Millbrook community – alongside visitors to the area. She describes the gym as “small but mighty and impressively equipped” and has come up with a “fantastic class timetable”, alongside the swimming pool on-site.

Tania and Phil, from Millbrook, said they are passionate about fitness for all, and designed TMT Fort Fitness as a place where everyone can enjoy being active. The TMT stands for Team Morris Training. Tania said: “Whether you’re an elder wanting to stay mobile, recovering from an injury, wanting to improve your mental and physical health, training for an event or sport, or simply looking to connect with people and become more active, this is for you.”

Tania has more than 20 years of experience in the fitness industry and has been an instructor for leading fitness brand Les Mills UK delivering Body Jam dance workouts and Body Combat mixed martial arts sessions. She is a qualified personal trainer and exercise to music instructor, with specialist skills in such things as GP referrals, Aqua-fit and use of Kettlebells.

She said her own personal life struggles give her an insight into “the human factors involved in starting and sticking to lifestyle choices and self care including regular exercise”. Tania said she is a “proud ADHD-er” and said her late ADHD diagnosis fuelled her desire to create a gym where everyone feels understood and supported.

She said: “This unique atmosphere has turned TMT Fort Fitness into a true hub for the Millbrook community, where connections are made, health and fitness goals are achieved, and fun is always part of the journey. Whether you’re looking to improve your fitness, make new friends, or just be part of something special, TMT Fort Fitness is here for you.”

Tania said the partnership with Whitsand Bay Fort, a holiday park, brings opportunities for fitness and relaxation. She said: “TMT Fort Fitness will offer a variety of new classes, including yoga and aqua-yoga sessions led by Jackie Robinson from RameYoga. With over 20 years of experience, Jackie’s classes are designed to be accessible, rejuvenating, and suitable for all levels.”

Tania also has an exclusive licence to deliver Boogie Bounce trampoline sessions and will teach this fun rebound class for all abilities on mini trampolines. She said: “It’s low impact and high fun.”

She said that in addition to TMT’s extensive class timetable, members can enjoy the swimming pool and bar and restaurant at Whitsand Bay Fort after their sessions. And members can also benefit from personalized coaching plans from Torpoint instructor Danni Wiseman, now part of TMT Fort Fitness, who specializes in helping people reach their fitness goals in a safe and friendly environment.
