Aberdeen Airport suspends all flights as ground team battles icy conditions

Aberdeen Airport has suspended all flights this morning (Tuesday, January 7) as teams work through challenging conditions to de-ice the airfield.

Workers have been battling to clear snow through the night with the north-east under a yellow weather warning on Monday heading into Tuesday.

However they have now confirmed that it has become necessary to ‘pause operations’ at the airport and that flights will eventually resume when it is deemed safe to do so.

The airport statement reads: “Our teams have been working throughout the night to clear snow and de-ice the airfield.

“Due to the ongoing freezing conditions it’s been necessary to pause operations. Flights will resume when it is safe to do so.

“We would advise passengers to check the status of the their flight with their airline and to take extra care when travelling to the airport.”
