Emergency crews raced to a car ‘flipped onto its roof’ in Coventry city centre. Crews from Coventry Fire Station and West Midlands Ambulance Service responded to the plea for help in Jordan Well, at the junction of St Mary Street, last night (January 15).
It followed reports that a car was ‘on its roof’ after colliding into a concrete bollard. Firefighters found that the driver had fortunately managed to get out of the vehicle.
But he was given precautionary checks from paramedics at the scene. However, the car was left with considerably more damage.

Crews had to use a winch to move it from the one way street onto St Mary Street. Police were called to the scene to arrange its recovery.
A West Midland Fire Service spokesperson said: “Shortly before 9.40pm on Wednesday 15 January, we responded to Jordan Well, at the junction of St Mary Street in Coventry. A fire engine from Coventry attended, arriving within three minutes of being mobilised. This was a collision between a car and a concrete bollard. The car came to rest on its roof.
“The male driver freed himself from the vehicle before we arrived. The car was moved to St Mary Street using a winch to allow traffic flow on the one-way road network.
“The driver received precautionary checks from paramedics but was believed to have been released at the scene. Police colleagues were arranging recovery of the vehicle when we left the scene at 10.20pm.”
